The Osteopathic Medical Board of California announces the appointment of Mark Ito as its new executive officer, effective January 31, 2019. Mr. Ito replaces former executive officer Angie Burton who retired.
Mr. Ito has 19 years of experience working for the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) in various capacities. Most recently he served as a budget manager in DCA’s Budget office where he led a team responsible for maintaining budgets for multiple clients. In this role he worked with other departments, boards and bureaus to complete multiple complex tasks simultaneously to guide programs in making decisions that would benefit their operation.
Prior to joining DCA’s Budget office, Mr. Ito gained valuable experience and knowledge on how a board operates while working for the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT). There he learned how to lead a board and its various functions including licensing, examinations, enforcement and administration. Notably, Mr. Ito was able to alleviate a licensing backlog while at BVNPT by filling vacancies, redirecting resources, setting workload expectations and keeping staff accountable to meet the program’s goal.
Mr. Ito began his career in 1999 as an office technician for BVNPT.
