May 5-11 is the 35th annual Public Service Recognition Week, honoring the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county, and local government employees. You might not think of these folks on a day to day basis, but they’re tasked with keeping the government running smoothly and efficiently.
“California could not be the land of opportunity and success it is today without its legion of committed public servants who carry out government’s long list of important – though sometimes thankless – responsibilities,” said Governor Gavin Newsom in a statement to the California Department of Human Resources. “During Public Service Recognition Week, we celebrate civil and public servants at all levels and the crucial work they do with passion, expertise and dedication in order to improve our lives and help build a California for all.”
The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) is getting in on the fun. This week, DCA is launching a new video series, The Face of Public Service, where we showcase some of our public servants who do the people’s work every day with little notice or fanfare.
Follow DCA on Facebook and Twitter to see the new video series and more coverage of DCA’s celebration of Public Service Recognition Week, as well as consumer-focused information about the industries regulated by DCA entities.
