Learn more about your consumer rights and ways to make well-informed decisions about your money during National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) March 4–10.
Presented by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the week-long campaign is a coordinated effort by federal, state, and local agencies and organizations to provide consumers with information and resources to protect themselves against scams and identity theft, and to educate them on topics such as how to best use credit and how to shop for a used car.
As an NCPW partner, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) seeks to support and inform consumers during National Consumer Protection Week––and every week. DCA’s mission falls right in line with the goals of NCPW: DCA protects consumers by providing access to qualified and licensed providers, fighting fraud and enforcing consumer protection laws, and investigating consumer complaints. As part of its mission, DCA offers consumer protection programs, including:
- DCA’s Arbitration Certification Program
- Contractors State License Board’s Senior Scam Stopper seminars
- Bureau of Automotive Repair’s Auto Body Inspection Program
- Bureau of Security and Investigative Services’ Veterans Come First Program
