SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Department of Consumer Affairs’ (DCA) Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) announces the appointment of Sophia Cornejo as its new registrar, effective August 15, 2022. Ms. Cornejo replaces former registrar Susan Saylor, who retired in April, 2022.
Ms. Cornejo has served various regulatory entities under DCA for her entire professional career dating back to 1996.
Ms. Cornejo has served as the assistant executive officer of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) since 2013. She was responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing of day-to-day operations of CSAC, including licensing, enforcement, administration, legislation, regulations, and field inspectors, and ensuring operation processes were completed accurately and according to requirements established by law.
Prior to her work with CSAC, Ms. Cornejo held the position of Associate Government Program Analyst (AGPA) for the Physical Therapy Board of California from 2011 to 2013, AGPA for the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology from 2010 to 2011, AGPA for the Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians from 2008 to 2010, and AGPA for the California Architects Board from 2007 to 2008. Ms. Cornejo also held Staff Services Analyst and Management Services Technician positions with the Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair, Home Furnishings and Thermal Insulation (now the Bureau of Household Goods and Services) and with DCA from 2000 to 2007.
